Brno Main station

An international architectural competition for new Main station in Brno city.

The generous urban concept of the Garden Station integrates the transport infrastructure into the natural organism of the city. The proposed train station is connected to the city chain of greenery by means of two adjacent line parks. This creates a large open space in the center of events, allowing for countless activities from sports to public events. The barrier of railway infrastructure is overcome by placing direct connections of public space below the level of railway lines and by adding transfer connections to the adjoining bus, tram and car transport. A glass steel hall opens towards the station increasing the transparency of the railway. The hall is not only an urban synapse but also a platform for the development of additional functions, restaurants, shops and workplaces.
